Product Information:
Combination Boiler: This is a mains fed pressurised system that instantaneously heats the mains cold water. This requires no hot or cold water storage tanks.
Gravity Fed System: Historically, the most common installation in the
Pumped System: This is a gravity system with the addidtion of a booster pump to increase flow to particular taps, commonly used in the shower. The larger the pump, the greater the flow rate.
Pressurised/ Unvented Systems: This is a less common installation where the hot water is stored under mains pressure. This requires no hot water storage in the loft and its peformance is dependant on the mains supply pressure. For optimum performance all mixers should be supplied with balanced pressures.
High pressure systems: High pressure systems are classed as having a water pressure of 0.5 bar and above. Combination boilers and unvented cylinders are classed high pressure systems.
Low pressure systems: Low pressure sytems have a minimum operating pressure of 0.1bar. They are gravity fed systems that have a mains water tank usually in the loft and a hot water cylinder storing your water.
Close Coupled Toilet: If a toilet is described as close coupled, then the water cistern sits directly on top of the toilet pan . The pan is fixed to the floor and the cistern is fixed to the wall and is operated by a lever to the front or side of the cistern or push-button on the top.
Back to Wall Toilet: A back to wall pan fits tight up to a wall. A cistern boxed in the wall connects to the pan by a short flush-pipe which cannot be seen. The flush is operated by a lever to the front or by a push-button on the top.
Wall Hung Toilet: A wall hung toilet is fixed tight up to the wall and does not reach to the floor, which makes it very easy to clean underneath. To secure the pan to the wall a steel support frame is nedded, which is hidden within a false or stud wall. A cistern concealed within the unit or wall connects to the pan by a short flush pipe and may be operated by a lever to the front, or a push-button to the top.
